Embracing the darkness with style and grace. Red hair, don’t care!
Barbie’s first-time Golden Globes nominee and presenter, Dua Lipa, graced the Beverly Hilton Hotel tonight to celebrate her dual distinctions earned through last summer’s hit “Dance the Night” from Barbie. The track, a collaboration with esteemed producer Mark Ronson, secured Lipa a nomination for Best Original Song. She competes against “I’m Just Ken,” “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie, Bruce Springsteen’s “Addicted to Romance” from She Came To Me, Lenny Kravitz’s “Road to Freedom” from Rustin, and the unexpected entry of Jack Black’s “Peaches” from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Despite her inaugural attendance at the Golden Globes, Lipa is no stranger to the glitz of awards season red carpets. For this significant event, she adorned a striking creation from Schiaparelli. Lipa donned a custom-made bustier dress in black velvet, adorned with Schiaparelli’s signature surrealism: an embroidered bone design in diamonds and gold. Notably, the dress featured unique “umbrella” volume at the hem, as shared by sources close to the star. Completing the ensemble were Jimmy Choo shoes and exquisite archival Tiffany & Co. jewels dating back to 1962.
According to Billboard, this year marks the second instance in Globes history where three songs from the same film have been nominated for Best Original Song. The previous occurrence took place in 1992 with Aladdin’s songs “A Whole New World,” “Friend Like Me,” and “Prince Ali,” where “A Whole New World” emerged victorious.
