Zendaya serves up style inspiration with a sleek updo and statement Bulgari jewelry to match her tennis-themed ensemble.
The allure of tennis whites has long been a topic of discussion, but what about tennis tighty-whities? Zendaya, fresh off her debut on the Challengers red carpet, made a bold statement by embracing briefs-as-outerwear while promoting her new tennis film in Australia. Zendaya, alongside her stylist Law Roach, collaborated with Lacoste’s new creative director Pelagia Kolotouros to craft a custom monochrome ensemble. Inspired by the designer’s recent fall 2024 collection, Zendaya’s outfit featured a sleeveless crop top adorned with glittery details along the neckline, paired with matching high-waisted briefs. Adding to the intrigue was a sheer maxi skirt worn loosely on her hips, featuring a thigh-high slit—a signature touch reminiscent of her previous Loewe premiere look.
Completing her ensemble were flashy coordinating heels, Bulgari jewelry accents, and a tousled updo. It’s evident that Zendaya and Roach are embracing a sporty aesthetic for the Challengers press tour, incorporating elements of tenniscore and athleisure with trendy red carpet elements such as sequined and sheer fabrics, as well as exposed undergarments.During press events outside of Sydney’s Opera House, Zendaya was joined by her co-stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor, each contributing their own style to the mix. Faist opted for a classic tan suit paired with a white button-down, while O’Connor brought an edgier vibe with a black tank top, pants, and a leather motorcycle jacket.
In contrast to her previous press run for Dune: Part Two, Zendaya’s outfits for Challengers carry a different tone, reflecting her roles as a Fremen in the former and a tennis professional in the latter. However, Zendaya and Roach maintain their thematic approach to dressing, albeit with a sporty twist. While there hasn’t been a standout archival moment yet, akin to the actress’ memorable Mugler cyborg suit, Zendaya’s custom Loewe gown in Wimbledon green, embroidered with a tennis player serving, pays homage to the sport, much like the latest Lacoste ensemble—a brand synonymous with tennis legends like Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic, and founder René Lacoste.
