Natasha Poonawalla Revives 1983 Karl Lagerfeld Haute Couture in a Show-Stopping Look

Natasha Poonawalla turned heads last night in Los Angeles, stepping out in a striking 1983 Karl Lagerfeld Haute Couture ensemble for the annual Chanel and Charles Finch dinner. A longtime fashion collector, Poonawalla paid homage to Lagerfeld’s first collection for the house with this archival masterpiece from the Autumn-Winter 1983-84 season. The look featured an off-the-shoulder black and gold sequined jacket adorned with intricate Lesage embroidery, gold metal thread, and sable fur, along with a dramatic black silk faille full skirt. Adding a touch of theatricality, the jacket’s back showcased a three-dimensional sun-face motif at the nape.

Fully embracing the vintage glamour, Poonawalla styled the outfit with a messy bun, soft nude makeup, and a sharp winged liner. She accessorized with Saint Laurent’s velvet clip earrings and Chloé’s Spring/Summer 2025 bracelet bag, elevating the ensemble’s elegance.

This is far from Poonawalla’s first bold fashion statement. Her past Met Gala appearances, including her unforgettable Schiaparelli x Sabyasachi look, cement her reputation as a true style connoisseur. At the 2023 Met Gala afterparty, she drew inspiration from supermodel Linda Evangelista’s Chanel runway moment from 1991-92, donning a sleek black and gold suit, layered with statement jewelry, Chanel gloves, and a chic leather beret.
