Ananya Panday Just Turned Jewellery Into a Bralette, and We’re Obsessed

Leave it to Ananya Panday to shake up the runway with a jaw-dropping fashion moment. At the 25th-anniversary edition of Lakmé Fashion Week, she opened AK|OK Anamika Khanna’s show in a look that redefined power dressing—a silver jewellery bralette paired with hand-embroidered blue trousers. Yes, you read that right. Jewellery as a top.

Khanna’s collection, Silver Collar, was all about modern femininity with a bold, avant-garde twist, and Ananya’s look was the perfect embodiment of that vision. “The inspiration for her outfit came from the silver jewellery worn by the Rabari tribe. We treated the entire silver piece as the palla, making it a statement in itself,” Khanna shared.

The trousers? Equally stunning. Crafted from thick satin with intricate cutwork and embroidery, they weren’t just beautifully designed—they were transformative. “The motifs pull from various cultural references across India, and the silhouette allows the trousers to be styled as a sari,” the designer explained.

Jewellery-as-fashion isn’t exactly new, but it’s definitely having a moment. India has a long history of infusing precious materials—gold threads, gemstone embellishments, zardozi work—into clothing. Ananya’s bralette joins an iconic lineup of bejewelled couture moments, from Gigi Hadid’s South Indian temple jewellery blouse at NMACC’s 2023 opening to Janhvi Kapoor’s Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga, featuring an actual temple jewellery blouse at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding.

Ananya took her look next level with a stack of silver bangles and kadas, adding even more drama. Her makeup? Flawless. She rocked a dewy base with Lakmé 9To5 Hya Matte Foundation in Warm Sand, a pop of blue eyeliner, and 9To5 Hya Matte Liquid Lipstick in Vacation Nude.

Between the jewellery-as-clothing movement and the growing trend of transformable silhouettes, Ananya’s look is proof that Indian fashion is getting bolder, edgier, and way more experimental. And honestly? We’re so here for it.
