Anya Taylor-Joy brings Parisian edge to Sydney in this stunning Rick Owens ensemble.

When it comes to promoting an upcoming post-apocalyptic action movie, could there be a better designer to turn to than Rick Owens? Anya Taylor-Joy’s recent appearances during the press tour for “Furiosa” have made that answer abundantly clear. Today, the actress brought a taste of Parisian catwalks and the edgy aesthetic of one of the city’s most avant-garde designers all the way to Sydney, Australia, as she attended a media call for the Mad Max-inspired film.

Taylor-Joy dazzled in a terracotta-hued ensemble from Owens’s Spring 2024 collection. The outfit consisted of a ruched one-shoulder top paired with an extremely high-waisted mermaid skirt. The leather maxi, starting just below her bust, featured sculptural pockets near the waist and a subtle train along the bottom. While the top boasted major asymmetrical details, it complemented the skirt flawlessly, serving as the perfect accent to the ensemble’s showpiece. Taylor-Joy opted for a bronzed glam makeup look, a gold cuff, and sleek, pin-straight hair, keeping the accessories minimal. She also posed alongside her “Furiosa” co-star Chris Hemsworth, who sported an earth-toned ensemble, donning a corduroy olive green suit from Canali paired with a white t-shirt and brown workman-style boots.

This particular outfit from Owens was first showcased back in September during one of his dark catwalk presentations at the Palais de Tokyo plaza. Echoing Taylor-Joy’s interpretation, accessories were kept to a minimum, with the actress opting for black eye contacts and a pair of Owens’s signature “Kiss” boots.Taylor-Joy’s portrayal of Furiosa has been making waves in the fashion world over the past few weeks. In early April, she kicked off her press tour at CinemaCon in another off-the-runway look, courtesy of French designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

This ensemble, adorned with dozens of black and silver belts, set the tone for her bold fashion choices. Now, with the movie’s grand premiere at Cannes just two weeks away, Taylor-Joy has once again scored a major fashion win with this Rick Owens creation.Owens and his grunge-glam designs feel like a natural fit for a film centered around the post-apocalyptic origin story of Taylor-Joy’s character, Imperator Furiosa. While there’s plenty of elegance in Taylor-Joy’s latest outfit, there’s also a dystopian edge that perfectly complements her thematic dressing streak. It’s apocalyptic, but make it fashion.
