Cardi B channels Old Hollywood glamour in her archival Versace gown.
While the Oscars night primarily celebrates film, the Vanity Fair after-party on Sunday saw a plethora of musical luminaries in attendance, ranging from emerging talents like Reneé Rapp to established pop icons like Lizzo. However, it was Cardi B who captivated the spotlight with her striking appearance in an archival Versace gown, giving a modern twist to the iconic Moulin Rouge! aesthetic.
Styled by Kollin Carter, Cardi B’s ensemble featured a jewel-encrusted dress sourced from Tab Vintage, originally showcased in the Versace Spring/Summer 2003 haute couture collection, known as “Mysterious Midnights.” The all-black design boasted a bust adorned with three interconnecting triangles, forming a studded collar that created a halter-style neckline. The bustier bodice was bedecked with inky jewels cascading down to her hips in graceful strands.
The mermaid skirt comprised two distinct sections: the top portion crafted from sheer fabric in a tulip silhouette, allowing glimpses of the rapper’s lacy floral tights underneath. The lower portion was adorned with tassel-like fabric streams, converging to form a trailing train behind her.
Complementing the ensemble were black wire earrings that harmonized with the overall look. Cardi opted for bouncy waves cascading down her shoulders, exuding an aura of Old Hollywood glamour. For her beauty regimen, her nails were painted black to complement the attire, while her makeup featured a smoky-gray eyeshadow paired with a baby-pink lip accentuated with a tan liner.
