Hunter Schafer channels classic glamour in Prada’s vintage-inspired creation.
There’s no denying the distinct flair of the Euphoria girls. Last night, following Zendaya’s continued archival streak in a 2010s Cavalli ensemble, Hunter Schafer showcased her own vintage charm on the red carpet. Schafer graced a pre-Oscars event in Los Angeles donning an avant-garde piece from Prada’s origami-inspired spring 2013 collection.
Her attire comprised a matching satin skirt set featuring an off-the-shoulder top and a knee-length skirt, both adorned with floral embroidery in a glossy, pistachio hue and boasting a hefty side slit. As a longstanding Prada ambassador, Schafer is intimately familiar with the world of Miuccia Prada, both vintage and contemporary. Teaming up with her stylist Dara Allen, who recently strutted down the catwalk of Prada’s sister brand, Miu Miu, in Paris, Schafer seems to have carte blanche within the Italian brand’s archives. However, accessing past collections is one thing; curating items suitable for the red carpet is another, and Schafer and Allen excel at the latter.
Like her Euphoria counterpart Zendaya, who modified the neckline of her Cavalli gown, Schafer also tailored her vintage find to perfection. She elongated the skirt, transforming it from mini to tea-length, and opted for simple white stilettos instead of the runway’s metallic platforms. Keeping the glam minimal, Schafer adorned her go-to updo and dewy skin.
This recent appearance follows Schafer’s showcase at Prada’s Milan show a little over a week ago, where she donned a ’60s-inspired menswear coat. Notably, Schafer has a history of sporting archival pieces from the label, causing a stir back in November at the Hunger Games world premiere with a custom liquid gold bra, paying homage to Miuccia Prada’s beloved spring 2009 season.
Zendaya and Schafer’s latest sartorial statements underscore the power of referential dressing. As Zendaya gears up to present at the Oscars, and with the possibility of Schafer gracing the red carpet or attending one of the evening’s numerous after-parties, anticipation mounts for what they have in store. Hopefully, Schafer will turn heads once again, perhaps with something as showstopping as the Ann Demeulemeester feather bra top she donned a year ago.
