Nature’s Origami on the Sustainable Fashion Day at Lakmé Fashion Week
Lakme Fashion Week hits the mark of twenty years this year, and to celebrate it remarkably with the retrospect show. The organization not only pay the tributes to the legendary couturiers but welcomes the newcomers. Celebrating the sustainable fashion day, Ritu Kumar presented Nature’s Origami by Ritu Kumar x Ecovero in which Aditi Rao Hydari was the showstopper.
The evening witnessed many other experts on the runway. The winner of the circular design challenge is Malai. The pieces crafted from waste materials such as discarded textiles, plastic scraps, and even coconut water, which was transformed into sleek plant-based leather bags and accessories by Zuzana Gombosova of Malai, who earned the award.
An exclusive collaboration of Ritu Kumar with responsible textile developers LENZING ECOVERO is marvelously earthy. The Autumn Winter 2020 Collection witnessed this sustainable art of sheer elegance and rejuvenating art.
Aditi, an eternal muse, closes the Ritu Kumar show dressed in a hand-embroidered silk organza dress, featuring a print inspired by the applique work of Orissa. The whole collection was in the setting shade of the Sun, which made the collection ethereal and surreal. Kumar’s signature mix of ethnic prints was used on the modern cut-out maxi dresses, kaftans, coats, and trousers, the collection Nature’s Origami is surely on the wishlist of this year.
