Shilpa Shetty Revives Her Dhadkan Elegance in a Sheer White Manish Malhotra Sari

Shilpa Shetty’s sheer white sari from Manish Malhotra was an ode to her Dhadkan character Inspired by her character in the film, Shetty became Malhotra’s muse along with Mumtaz and Urmila Matondkar Shilpa Shetty’s character Anjali from the blockbuster movie Dhadkan was styled in an array of ivory and white offerings amplified with subtle hints of lace. As a tribute to the iconic character and story, Shetty returned as Manish Malhotra’s muse walking the runway with yesteryear actor Mumtaz, Urmila Matondkar and Khushi Kapoor. Shetty’s look for the evening was a stark white MM sari replete with tonal chikankari work, textured sequins, fragile tassels across its border, and a blouse tiered with layers of pearls. The sari featured Mijwan craftsmanship; a technique born out of a small village in Uttar Pradesh that has become synonymous with Malhotra’s design codes. The technique uses hand-stitched embroidery to form fragile paisley and floral motifs, giving the impression of being one with the fabric. The stars who walked Malhotra’s show displayed distinct aspects of the designer’s diverse wheelhouse with Mumtaz in a black georgette sari with multi-hued embroidery, Matondkar in a crimson satin corset-sari, and Kapoor in a bejewelled drape with a thigh-high slit and leafy embroidery for the blouse.
