Shilpa Shetty’s ensemble dazzles with intricate mirror work, a nod to Gujarat and Rajasthan craftsmanship.
Embracing the timeless elegance of the humble sari comes in myriad forms – layered, ruffled, textured, embroidered, and beyond. However, Shilpa Shetty has introduced a contemporary twist with her half-and-half version. Recently, she graced Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani’s wedding in Goa, where numerous stars donned their traditional best, but Shilpa Shetty’s ensemble stood out.
Styled by Meagan Concessio, Shilpa Shetty adorned an Arpita Mehta creation, featuring a combination of gold tissue and georgette sari. The pallu and front of the outfit were crafted from gold tissue, while the sequinned georgette formed the skirt of the ensemble. The border boasted intricate embroidery with the brand’s trademarked mirror work, reminiscent of the craftsmanship found in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
While the half-and-half sari is a popular choice in South India, typically with the lower half resembling a skirt, Shilpa Shetty’s ensemble showcased a unique touch with larger, more reflective mirror pieces compared to others at the same event. Georgette fabric, known for its ease of pleating and draping, complemented the design, providing a sophisticated yet comfortable wear. Shilpa accessorized her look with a pearl choker and stud earrings, adding a touch of timeless elegance.
The gold-foil tissue sari has recently gained popularity, partly attributed to iconic appearances by Rekha, whose Kaanjeeveram saris often feature this shiny fabric. Actor Sobhita Dhulipala has also showcased a fondness for saris made of this sheer, lustrous material on multiple occasions, further contributing to its resurgence in the fashion scene.
