beautiful shine

Wow, what a beautiful snapshot! The dress and the window create such a picturesque scene.

At the UK premiere of Oppenheimer, the cast made a strong statement in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA strike on July 13, 2023. As they exited Leicester Square’s Odeon Luxe, Emily Blunt, along with Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh, left behind an exquisite Alexander McQueen dress—a partner gown to the striking black tasseled number Blunt wore. This dress, envisioned by creative director Sarah Burton prior to her departure from the house, found itself temporarily archived amid the uncertainty of Hollywood’s negotiations.

Six months later, the ethereal gold creation designed by Sarah Burton surfaced at the Golden Globes. Blunt’s stylist, Jessica Paster, couldn’t contain her excitement. “Sarah graciously allowed us to retain the dress after the Oppenheimer premiere, and once again permitted us to keep it for awards season post her departure from McQueen,” Paster shared. She expressed deep admiration for this “amazing” diaphanous design, emphasizing its ability to infuse a sense of coolness, effortlessness, elegance, and beauty—a refreshing legacy look for McQueen.

Blunt, with her affinity for British brands, shares a long-standing association with the label. Since 2012, when she discovered McQueen through one of its iconic skull-stamped skinny scarves, she has embraced Burton’s endlessly romantic and research-driven designs. Blunt effortlessly carries off Burton’s elaborate embroidery, often inspired by nature, ancient folklore, and at times, Welsh love spoons. Her red-carpet appearances carry a theatrical quality, confidently adorning acres of sheer ruffles and intricate beads—a demeanor reminiscent of her iconic character, Emily in The Devil Wears Prada.Blunt’s journey with McQueen is a testament to her storytelling prowess, embodying each garment with a distinct narrative while radiating a confident elegance that mirrors her on-screen presence
